Community Event
La Liga basketball is this coming Monday! And, there will be cake and jerseys!
La Liga is a GREAT way for students to connect with trusted adults, as La Liga is more than sports, it is building community and inspiring hope! We know trusted adults are key to healthy kids. PLEASE help us have a full gym – get kids to come on down. We have great adults who are giving their time for this event – that is huge! We thank them for volunteering their time to connect with the kids.
All Douglas County middle schoolers are invited to join La Liga Winter 2019. La Liga, now in its 2nd year, is a partnership between the Youth Initiative, Nueva Vida, and DCSD’s Team Up. Last year it was soccer, 6-12 graders, still planned for May-July 2019, but for an in-between, we are hosting a 4-week basketball program! Free! With, English and Spanish speaking coaches and refs!
This is a great way to get our kids connected - we are inviting all middle schools to join in. Please let kids know, all are welcome, at any time! Questions? Call Marsha at 303-814-5327.

Weather Delays
With the recent weather, we thought it would be good to communicate what our general procedure will be at eDCSD. In case of a closure, we will not hold blended and our office will be closed. If it is not a blended day, teachers will have instructions on their class pages with further instructions for the day.
If we have a delay, typically the district will call a 90 min delay. However, since eDCSD has later than typical start times, we will run on a 60 min delay. If we have a delay on a blended day, we will start 1 hour late. If your student is riding the bus, their pick up time will be 1 hour later than originally communicated. If we have a delay on a virtual class day, we will run on a normal schedule.
Lost and Found
Please check the lost and found bin on the classroom counter. It is starting to overflow with items left behind at blended!

Packs of Hope Community Service Project
The holidays are a special time of year when everyone comes together and gives from the heart. With that in mind, we would like your help in giving back to the community. Last year over 10,000 children were part of the Colorado foster care program, many times these children are informed of a move from one home to another with very little notice. Many of these children have very few personal possessions and most of their things are transported in trash bags. We are partnering with Packs of Hope which provides backpacks full of new items for children in the Colorado Foster Care system.
How can you help? We are hoping that you will be able to provide some items to donate such as:
Books
Full Size Toothpaste & Toothbrushes
Full Size Deodorant
Full Size Shampoo & Conditioner
Brush / Comb
We hope to be able to put together 30 packs for teens ages 13 - 18 because this is the most overlooked group of kids in the foster care system and with your help, I know we can make it happen.
Using the link below you can sign up to help fill a pack, simply put your name and then the number of items you are bringing in the correct column. Please make sure that all your choices are age appropriate. For every 4 items you donate, you will earn 1 hour of community service. If you want community service hours, please make sure you donate in groups of 4. Please have all donations in by Dec 20th. Thank you in advance for all of your help.

Students, are you looking for a leadership opportunity? Want to make positive changes in our school? Looking for a way to get involved? Then consider joining the Principal’s Advisory Council (PAC). PAC is looking for 3-5 students to join our group. Meetings will be held once a month on Wednesdays to discuss school needs, give the Principal feedback on school issues and plan events like the holiday party. As an added bonus, you will get to know other students and snacks will be served. If you are interested, please email gwiley1@dcsdk12.org for more info or to sign up. Make a difference in your school and get involved! THE FIRST MEETING IS WEDNESDAY, Sept. 5 FROM 1-2 PM. If you cannot meet in person but want to join virtually, please let me know.
