Corporate Skylines

About the Gallery
I’ve been a city-dweller all my life, and have recently been contemplating how my urban upbringing has impacted the formation of my personal views. Specifically, I have realized that a corporate agenda has been permeating my lifestyle – subliminally or intentionally – since the day I was born.
Some of the photos in this gallery are quite recent, some were taken a few months back – but all were taken by my hand. They are all similar in that they exhibit a corporate skyline, and they become progressively personal until you are exposed to my daily view from my bedroom window. Buildings creep up on the horizon, obstructing the natural skyline; an insistent corporate agenda permeates my visual experience, and subsequently permeates the skyline of my consciousness.
Studying popular culture has truly opened up my eyes to how susceptible we are to the agendas of corporations, institutions, and media. The potential for the sedation and indoctrination of the masses at the hands of few is astounding.
I am putting in an effort to become increasingly aware of what is subliminally permeating my consciousness, for fear that I will lose my individuality and my values in a corporate skyline.
