The first man & woman in space.

The first man in space was Yuri Gagarin, he was 27 when he left earth to orbit earth on April 12, 1961.

The first woman in space was Valentina, she was 22 when she left earth to enter space on june 16, 1963

The worlds first artificial satellite

The first artificial satellite was launched into space to orbit the earth.This satellite was about the size of a beach. The name of this accomplishment is "Sputnik"

John Glenn jr. is so important to our history because of the "space race" we were in with russia, he led us to win this race by being the first American to orbit the earth
