Principal's Message
First of all, a huge shout out goes to our PTA for hosting a fun-filled family event last week. We all had a great time eating burgers, hanging out with friends, and dancing our hearts out! PTA - thank you for ALL you do to make JES a warm, welcoming, and FUN school!
You may have seen information for SchoolStore come home with your child. This is a fundraiser that some of our teachers are doing for their classrooms. It is not a PTA fundraiser. If you have any questions regarding SchoolStore, please email our site secretary Ms. Tiffany:

We want to send out a huge thank you to all of our families that donated pajamas before the holidays. There were over 100 pajamas donated! All the pajamas were given to Rose Again Foundation. They distributed most of them at their annual holiday event. The rest of the pajamas will be given to kids entering the foster system.
Ms. Fieweger is beginning to work with her student yearbook committee on this year's yearbook. If you have any pictures that you would like the yearbook committee to consider, please use this Google Form to submit: click here to upload yearbook pics.

"Thriver" Trait: Integrity
During the month of January, we will introduce the Thriver trait of integrity. Thrivers author, Michelle Borba, describes integrity as: "learned beliefs, capacities, attitudes, and skills that create a moral compass that children use to help them know what's right, care about what's right, and do what's right." Integrity, even more than other Character Strengths, is learned through daily home interactions and how the trait is modeled by parents and other adults in a child's life. Most people who have displayed strong integrity in their lives attribute it to the way they were "raised."
One of the suggestions in her book is for a family to reflect on and choose the virtues that you deem most significant to create your "family's moral compass." Then come up with a family motto. The example in the book is a family that became the "Honest Dunns." This was the virtue that was most important to them, and every day they were reminded of that. Keep saying the motto, pointing out examples, and reflecting on moments until your kids "become it".
