Message from the Principal
Standing Bear Families,
FUN RUN
Students have had a lot of fun these last few weeks at the Boosterthon assemblies! We are really excited to do our FUN RUN tomorrow! We are still watching the weather forecast and hoping for a dry morning so the run can be held outside. If weather does not permit, we will hold the event inside the building.
I believe that the students have earned enough money to put me into a pool of slime! I may be sticky for awhile! This "sliming" event will take place on Thursday, October 3rd at 3:00pm.
School Messenger
We will be using the School Messenger (Robo call or email) to communicate this year. Please make sure to contact the office if you need to update your contact information.
There are still a few openings for Chess Club. If interested, please contact Lisa Livers @ lisa.livers@ops.org.
United Way
Envelopes will be coming home today with students. If families want to donate coins to the cause, the school will assist with collecting those for you. Please send the envelope to the school with your child if you wish to participate.

Chief Standing Bear Honor Race, September 21, 2019
This race was in honor of the 140th anniversary of Chief Standing Bear's landmark trial in Omaha. This trial decided for the first time that Native Americans were declared persons in the eyes of the law. It could be stated that this legal decision was the birth of the civil rights movement in our country and it all happened here in Omaha! This was a fundraiser for Douglas County Historical Society and the Ponca Elders of Nebraska.
Standing Bear staff represented our school for this race. Pictured below:
Mrs. Fahnholz, Mrs. Gryzen, Mrs. Young, Mrs. Woodson, Mrs. Moeller, Miss Livers and Mrs. Bassett.
Congratulations to Mrs. Fahnholz for taking 1st place and Mrs. Bassett for taking 2nd place. Standing Bear Elementary was represented well!

Important Information from Standing Bear
Building Security
We welcome all parents to visit Standing Bear Elementary. For the safety and security of our students and this building, we require that all parents get a visitor badge from the office when going past the main entrance. If you enter through the cafeteria doors, please also stop by the office if walking your child to their classroom. Thank you for taking the extra steps to help ensure our school is a safe place to learn.
Drop Off Zone
We ask that you please pull all the way down to the second crosswalk if possible (by main front doors). We can then unload around 10 vehicles rather than 5. Also, we have some very excited and responsible "Ambassadors" to assist with opening your car doors for easy drop off.PTO Information
