Amendment 12 Chooses the President/ Vice President
The President and Vice President have to be elected together. The issue was that the first place finisher would become President and the Second place finisher was Vice President making it an issue say a Republican became President while a Democrat became Vice President.
It was passed December 9th, 1803.
Insures that the President and Vice President will be paired with who he is running with.
Amendment 13 Abolishes Slavery
Amendment 13 was the amendment that abolished slavery in all states.
It was passed January 31, 1865.
It is still important because slavery or involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime and be convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.
Amendment 18 Prohibition of Alcohol
It was driven across the nation by religious groups who considered alcohol a threat to the nation. It led to a rise in organized crime as the bootlegging of alcohol became a more lucrative operation. The 21st amendment repealed amendment 18.
Passed December 18th, 1917.
It doesn't have any affects today it was repealed.
