Chemistry 8.p.1 Understand the properties matter and change the occur when matter in an open and closed container.
Chemical Properties - A characteristic that you can only observe by changing the identity the substance.
Physical Change - Any change that does not involve a change in the substance's chemical identity.
Chemical Change - Any change in matter that results in the formation of mew chemical substance.
Element- Made up of one type of atom cannot be separated into simpler substance by physical or chemical means located in periodic table.
Compound - Made of 2 or more atoms of different element that are bound together made of element in a specific ratio has a chemical formula can be separated by chemical mean not by physical.
Mixture - Combination of 2 or more pure substance that are held together by physical force not chemical no chemical change take place has a random compositions each item retain it properties in the mixture.
Periodic table - Describe the parts of a atom and how we use these parts to identify elements on the periodic table it is organized by increase atomic number and it is divide into three categories metal, non metal , metal lords
Protons, neutrons, electrons - are the 3 parts of an atom
Law of Conservation of Mass - No matter cannot be created nor destroyed it can only be transferred from state to state.
Vocabulary - Chemical properties, Physical properties, Atomic number, Periods
Atomic mass, Group
Earth History
Index Fossil - The trace or re mailing of an organism that lived long ago most commonly preserved in sedimentary rock.
Ice core - Tell us when that snow fell and what year because the ice core have gases that tell us the time that happened.
Geologic time scale - A record of the geologic events and life form in earth history.
Relative and Absolute Dating - The age of a rock compared to the ages of rock layers. The age of a rock given as the number of years since the rock formed.
Half life/Radioactive decay - Time it takes for 1/2 of the isotopes to decay
Infectious Diseases
Virus - A small , non living particles that invades and then reproduce inside a living cell.
Bacteria - single cell organism lack a nucleus protectorates
Fungi - grows in moist areas and mostly people in sports that are barefoot get it
Parasites - is a unicellular and microscopic and very diverse
Epidemic and Pandemic - A widespread outbreak of an infectious disease with a small population or community. An outbreak of an infectious disease that affects large population
Prevention/Treatment - Raise Awareness, education, vaccines/antibiotics, good hygiene
Biotechnology - The use of living cells bacteria etc.. to make useful products (such it crups) that insect are less likely to destroy or new kinds of medicine. the careers are so good but they are stressful and they pay good money.
Vocab - Microorganism, virus, bacteria, fungi, parasites, epidemic and pandemic, prevention or treatment, biotechnology
