Title I Family Engagement

August 2019 Newsletter

Welcome Back to School!

Welcome back Oak Ridge School Families!

We have a lot of exciting family engagement events at the elementary schools this year!

Make sure to check the school calendar, your child's folder and your email for upcoming events!

We had wonderful turnouts at Open House and Title I meetings.

It is wonderful to see so many of our families involved and engaged in their child's education!

Back to School Tips for Parents

- Schedule a normal bedtime and stick to it as much as possible. Elementary school children need around 8-10 hours of sleep per night.

- Pick a regular homework time and place. A quiet place that is well lit and free from distraction is preferable. Make sure that you are available if they need help, but don't do it for them.

- Make sure your child is getting a healthy breakfast at home or school.

-Try putting their backpacks, shoes and lunchboxes together in a regular location, the night before. This will help reduce stress for you and your children.

-Make sure to stay in contact with your child's teacher. Let them know if you have any questions or concerns. Emailing or leaving a voicemail is usually the best way to reach them.

-Attendance- try to have your child at school on a regular basis. Just a few days out can put your child behind with Reading and Math. Contact your child's school when they are absent, and get makeup work whenever possible.
