A MESSAGE FROM MR. LUCITA

Dear Jaguar Band Families,

The weeks are counting down rapidly! And then there were three! Cannot believe there are only three weeks left before summer! Let’s review what is happening this week!

First, all music placement recordings were due on Friday. The Directors will listen to the recordings and assign placement throughout this week. We should have all members placed into their 2021-2022 ensembles by the middle of next week.

This week we have our Spring Concert! Our concert will be held at Johnson HS in the outdoor courtyard. Since the temperatures have started to rise and the days have gotten longer we are going to push the start time of the concert back. Students in Symphonic Band should be seated for warmup at 7 p.m., and the concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. This later start allows for the temperature to fall and start to cool down and for the sun to not be in everyone’s eyes. We can’t wait to see everyone there and enjoy the music!

We are also having our SLT tryouts this week! We have had several meetings already with an incredible group of students who want to take an active role in the area of student leadership! With the students' input, we have reorganized our SLT just a little in an effort to help our band reach new heights and achievements. Based upon the group dynamic and their strong desire to be successful, our Jaguar Band will be in great hands whoever is selected!

Texas State Solo & Ensemble Contest is rapidly approaching, and we want to wish our Jaguar Band members that advanced to TSSEC the very best.

Letter Jackets! Monday, May 17th from 4:30 - 6 p.m. we will have a fitting for all students earning a letter jacket this year. If you believe you have enough points for your jacket but are not sure, simply stop by the band office and Mrs. Mendez can tell you for certain. We will also reach out to those earning a jacket to remind them to get fitted!

Two big events coming up soon!

1st: Next week we have our FULL Marching Camp on May 20-22, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Saturday will only be a half-day with registration, a parent meeting at 12 p.m. and a parent preview performance at 1:00. It is going to be awesome!

2nd: We are having a guest instructor for our Breakdown Camp in June. June 16 & 17 from 8 a.m. - 12 p.m. we have professional dancer and choreographer Michael Rosales coming to Johnson HS to work with our Jaguar Band. Mr. Rosales is one of the most sought-after clinicians in the country by bands wanting to improve and elevate their visual program through movement! This camp is for all Winds, Guard and Percussion students! Mark your calendars now! You do not want to miss this event!

Let’s have another great week!! And remember: It’s a Great Day to be a Jaguar!

Band Sponsorships and opportunity to put Student names on trailer!

The Johnson Jaguar Band depends in large part on the fundraising efforts of the Band Boosters. Sponsorships are a very important part of fundraising. Our Sponsorship levels have been updated, and we have a lot of exciting options for businesses AND families! We ask that every family please share this brochure with anyone you know that has a business. We are eager to help promote businesses in our community that support the Jaguar Band! If you would like color copies of our Sponsorship Brochure, we are happy to provide them.

Details of all Sponsorship Options can be found at https://www.johnsonbands.com/sponsorships.
