of Broken Arrow Week 16 Recap
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. John 1:1
We had a lot of people out sick this week. We missed you and we hope that you are feeling 100% better!

“One thing I know: Every single parent on this earth is capable of raising children in the knowledge and admonition of the Lord. Why? Because He commands it of us in Ephesians 6. And the Lord is trustworthy. He will not command us to do things we cannot do. He recognizes our failures, yet continues to trust us and entrust unto us our children… On the other hand, God hasn’t equipped me or any parent to handle every aspect of a child’s education and training. So we must rely on others to help in different ways during different seasons of our lives. Parents must help each other.”

Journeymen/Masters: Choose an artist The kids can share something interesting about the artist, their background, tell us about their art. Or they can choose their favorite painting and talk about it. Encourage them to point out the OILS (Ovals, lines, dots, angles, curves).
Skill to practice: Articulation: Speak clearly so your audience can understand you
Great Artists: We will be studying Degas this week during the Great Artist segment. We will be using chalk pastels on cloth. This project will be a bit messy so dress accordingly. We still need a couple of irons and iron boards for that day also.

Week 16 and Beyond
Foundations to Challenge
This week we memorized the definition of "verb". Did you know that our word "verb" come from the Latin "verbum"? In John 1, Jesus is "Verbum" made flesh. Today, you can think about the Trinity of Godhead as fulfilling the entire verb definition. HE is the source of all movement (asserts an action). He is the great I AM (shows a state of being.) His work on the cross reconciles us to God (links to words together). His Holy Spirit helps us to walk in His Ways (helps another verb).
"God's economy places a great emphasis and importance on the word and language; therefore, a disciple of the 'word made flesh' would be wise to learn the wonderful layers of language. As a result, the student and parent will be equipped for God's purpose for their life as understood and communicated through words and ideas." Essentials Guide to the English Language.
This week we studied Gainsborough and experimented with oil pastels while drawing our own landscapes. You can do the same thing with watercolors and tempera paints
