Catherine Welchester

I work in the mills to have a house and to earn money, but at the same time in risking my life with hot temperatures, bad air, sharp hot threads running through my fingers. I don't like the job I have, but if I want a nice home and a good pay I will risk my life.

I'm Catherine Welchester I work in a mill to make my life better, I live in Water-town Massachusetts and I risk my life making simple cloths just to have money and have a decent house. my life in the mills is difficult but its helping me and other people to. making cloths is not what I wanted to do when I was little. I wanted the perfect husband, the huge house, the great car, and the perfect life. But I ended up with making cloths in a dirty factory. but I am the luckiest girl in the world to have a house and a job that pays good money.

My job in the mills

the life of a weaver

I wake up every morning at 4:30am ready to get working in the mill. I arrive at the mill at about 5:00am and get right to my job. I work 12-14 hours a day weaving thread, I get my lunch break around 1:00 and stop working around 7:00pm. the mill I work in is dirty, dark, hot, unclean, unsafe and is a place to risk my life. I realize if I want a home and good pay I will have to suck it up and work as hard as I already do. While im on the job im always thinking what if I was poor and dint have any money or shelter to live in, I think im the luckiest girl in the world to have a home and good pay.
