In 1994, ate the age of 15, Aaliyah had a breakthrough when her album "Age ain't nothing but a number" jumped on the R&B charts. The album was produced by the famous singer R. Kelly, and the album sold millions of copies. The two hit songs "Back and Forth", and "At Your Best" earned a platinum status.
While still attending high school at, Detroit Performing Arts High School, at 17, Aaliyah released her second album "One in a million" in 1996. The album got hundreds of great reviews, and sold over two- million copies.
Acting Career
In 2000, Aaliyah stared in an action movie, "Romeo Must Die". She also produced the movies soundtrack, an performed the hit single, "Try Again". The song got a Grammy nomination as well as two MTV Music Video Awards for Best Female Video and Best Video From a Film.
Her third album "Aaliyah" reached number two on the Billboard album chart.
She also appeared in two more hit movies, "Damned" and Sci-Fi thriller "The Matrix"
