Principal's Message

Dear Field Families,

Congratulations to our Math Field Day Teams and coaches for their wins on Saturday! One fourth grade team and one fifth grade team earned 1st place and will continue on to the LA County competition on April 30! We are so proud of you.

Congratulations also goes out to our Science Innovation Exposition winners! Their projects will compete against other PUSD student projects on Friday, April 8, at McKinley School. The Innovation Exposition is open to the public on Friday from 5:00-6:00pm and the awards ceremony begins at 6:00pm at McKinley School, 325 S. Oak Knoll Ave.

Our PTA Board will present the Jog-a-thon prizes on Friday at the morning assembly, but this doesn't mean the time has run out for donations. If you have any donations, please turn them this week. Thank you!

We will start our participation in the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) on April 11 and conclude on April 29. All third through fifth grade students will participate in the CAASPP and the fifth graders will take an additional test in Science.

Thank you for your continued support.

Update from the School Safety Committee

Many volunteers are coming to classrooms without a volunteer or visitor badge. All volunteers and visitors must sign in at the office and pick up their badge if they are going to work on campus. Teachers will ask parents to go back to the office if they do not have a badge when they enter their classroom. Thank you for your attention to this procedure.

This week, the teachers will be prompting all students to think about their two Safe People (staff they feel comfortable approaching) and reminding them that if they have problem, they can go to their Safe People and they will respond accordingly. Please follow up with your children on this topic.
