From the Desk of Mrs. Rivera
Just as teachers have high standards for their students, school leaders have high standards for their organizations. To ensure that a school is meeting those standards and providing an effective, forward-thinking, and impactful education to its students, school leaders may choose to engage their schools in a rigorous process known as "accreditation." This process requires schools to reflect deeply on how they achieve their goals and bring their mission statement to life. Accrediting organizations around the world develop standards to guide schools and gauge their effectiveness; these standards range from instructional delivery methods and models to the conditions of the physical facilities to the information contained in student records. If a school chooses to participate in the accreditation process of a particular accrediting organization, then that school uses the standards that the accrediting body has developed, and the school must reflect on how it meets or exceeds those standards through a self-study. The accreditation process culminates in a visit to the school by an accrediting committee, which is composed of educators and leaders in the field of education. This process is arduous, but it is one that we as educators participate in wholeheartedly and enthusiastically. We are extremely proud to say that Riviera is accredited by several state, national, and international organizations, all of which measure each school against the high standards they set. The organizations we are accredited by are some of the most prestigious in the world of education, including Cognia (the umbrella organization for the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement, the Northwestern Accreditation Commission, and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement); Accreditation International; National Independent Private Schools Association; Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Elementary and Secondary Schools; Association of Independent Schools of Florida; and the National Council for Private School Accreditation.
We are extremely proud of our school and what we do each and every day. At Riviera, the bar is always set high, for students, teachers, and our community as a whole. We are committed to excellence in action in everything that we do!
Have a great week, and be sure to check your inbox for another edition of Friday at 4:00 in one week!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Rivera

JOLLY HOLIDAY SHOW-SAVE THE DATE
That's right, ladies and gentlemen! Riviera Day School is THRILLED to bring back its annual Jolly Holiday Show! Over the years, we've dressed up like the characters of the Peanuts cartoons, and we've donned costumes that represent all of the toys in the Toy Story saga. This year, we will have a musical with songs and acting in addition to performances by our chorus.
P3 -1st grade will be on 12/13 at 6:00 PM
2nd -5th grades will be on 12/14 at 6:00 PM

Snap Circuit Fun!
After our student's worked on simple circuits, we took it a step further (this last class) and used the Makey Makey set to build a Play-Doh piano. I have some fun photos of that as well for another time, but I just HAD to share this video so you can smile!
Check out Isabelle Ozer playing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star on her Play-Doh piano!
Do Pumpkins Sink or Float?
Here they are testing their “sink or float” hypothesis to see if their predictions were correct. Enjoy the photos; we like to say our pool was a very Florida pumpkin patch!
