Welcome Back From Spring Break
Monday, 4/06/2020
Dear RHS Families,
April 6, 2020
Dear RHS Family Members:
We hope that you all were able to rejuvenate and relax during the Spring Break "vacation". As another week of uncertainty has come and passed, I want to reassure you that Redwood Heights Teachers and Staff are committed as ever to you and your students. It has been moving to see how we have all banded together to get through this unprecedented time.
PLEASE NOTE: Teachers will have two full planning days on TUE, April 7th and WED, April 8th
Embracing Our Humanity @ RHS:
Our HUGS Coordinator, Jennifer Wilson is here for you. She can be reached at jenniferrhshugs@gmail.com. She will also be a contributor to the new SCHOOL CLOSURE INFO section. Let’s continue to be a living example of our school’s 19/20 theme, Embracing Our Humanity, by continuing to take care of each other with love, compassion, and positive human connections.
COVID-19 might have dramatically changed how we live, learn, work and communicate with one another, but we are still a community that's moving forward, together. We might not be able to be on campus together but we are always here for you. In memory of the great singer/songwriter Bill Withers, let's contemplate the lyrics of his song, Lean On Me and continue to be here for each other:
...Lean on me, when you're not strong
And I'll be your friend
I'll help you carry on
For it won't be long
'Til I'm gonna need
Somebody to lean on...
Thank you for being such an important part of our Sammy Squirrel family!
Warmly,
Cynthia
If possible, play Lovely Day for the children and tell them I miss their beautiful spirits and faces. Thank You!!!

OUSD/RHS Supplemental Learning During School Closure
OUSD shared a document with the greater community called, The Oakland Unified School District, Home Learning Resources 2020. It states, "Your child’s school has provided resources for home learning ... offered...to ensure that students continue their learning during this time of temporary school closures. Home learning assignments cannot be used to determine course grades or course completion. Families, please follow site plans first...” Click on the link above to read this document.
Redwood Heights Website Update:
In addition to the new learning resources, I updated the Redwood Heights Website to include a tab currently called, SCHOOL CLOSURE INFO to house all of the resources and additional learning links. I have asked Rebecca Weissman to curate and manage this section. This is a work in progress so please be patient with us as we continue to create this section.
Let's continue to be guided by the Six Daily Questions:
Contemplate on the Six Daily Questions to Ask Yourself in Quarantine from Published by the Greater Good Science Center at UC Berkeley

2. Who am I checking in on, or connecting with, today?
