Term One 2013

With Miss Mulholland

Welcome

Dear Parents/Caregivers,

Welcome to the 2013 school year. I am excited to work with you and your girls this year. This term will focus on topics including Living Things (Science), Aboriginal History and Culture (History) and Being Female (Health and Development).

While student work will be tailored to meet individual needs, there will be times when students will feel challenged. It is important that student work is at the right level of challenge, not too easy or too hard. My expectations of each student will vary depending on their individual needs.

Together we will make sure this year a great one. We will be learning, laughing and growing together.

Melissa Mulholland.

Our Classroom Environment

Learning Spaces

Our classroom works differently to the traditional stereotype. In our space, we are free to navigate the room, to choose where we work and who we work with. Our agreements focus on being responsible, working collaboratively and building relationships with one another.

Homework

Students are expected to read for 15 minutes each school night. Throughout the year students will also work on spelling and times tables. Every few weeks students will be asked to complete a homework grid. This will have a variety of tasks including items requiring students to help out at home. Any student with additional homework, will do so as a result of not completing work in class. Thus, homework becomes an opportunity for them to catch up.

Becoming Leaders

Throughout the year there will be many opportunities for students to take on extra responsibilities and become leaders within the school. The choir, school crossing monitors and the Kapa Haka group are just a few of the possibilities. I will strongly encourage the girls to get involved as it is a great way to gain new friendships as well as develop a variety of skills and experience. Many students have already signed up.

Girls Bootcamp

Friday, Feb. 15th, 7:30-8:30am

Collins Parade

Hackham, SA

Students are invited to join the girls Bootcamp group. This is run by Jacinta Wade our school counsellor and will meet EVERY FRIDAY starting THIS FRIDAY (15th Feb). Students will complete various fitness activities in a relaxed, fun and supportive environment.

To participate students must have the required permission slip signed by a parent or guardian. Students are advised to change into their school uniform AFTER Bootcamp as a precaution in the event of rain.

Our Digital Footprint

We will be working on our digital presence throughout the year and would love to have some parent/caregiver - student interaction. You may like to
