Our Staff Prayer for Term 3
We ask your blessing Lord, on this third term.
As we begin, we start planning, preparing,
sharing, talking, helping, caring,
working together with our students in mind,
supporting each other for the good of all.
Give us energy and satisfaction, sensitivity and friendship.
We ask your blessing Lord, on our children and our community.
Listening, teaching, guiding, inspiring,
enjoying learning, involving our families, celebrating diversity.
Give us warmth and encouragement, empathy and understanding.
God – Bless us with the power of your holy presence in our school.
Jesus – Bless us with the skills of your teaching in our classrooms.
Holy Spirit – Bless us with the fire of love and energy of wind so that throughout this term
we work together to build the Kingdom of God in our homes and our school.
Amen
Message from the Principal
Dear Parents and Carers
I trust that you all had a wonderful school holiday. The rainy weather certainly forced us to spend time relaxing indoors and the staff feel re-energised, and excited about the teaching and learning opportunities on offer in Term 3.
Today I had a meeting with the Member of Mirrabooka, Meredith Hammat MLA. Meredith is keen to work with our school to establish networks with key stakeholders in our community. The meeting was productive and Merridith will be visiting our school again during Book Week to read her favourite picture book to our students.
School Disco
This term we have a full calendar with many exciting events. The annual disco is always a highlight for our students and this year is shaping up to be one of the best discos ever. Our hard-working P&F have put many hours into ensuring that the evening will be a special one for the children. Kindy and Pre-Primary children are invited to attend for the first time too. Parents of children in Kindy and Pre-Primary need to accompany their children to the disco and stay for the duration of the event.
Nut Aware School
The start of a new term always serves as an opportunity to remind all parents that we are a nut aware school. As such we ask that you do not pack nuts into your children’s lunch boxes or nut products like Nutella and peanut butter. We have several children with severe life-threatening allergies to nuts. If the duty teachers notice nuts or nut products like peanut butter and Nutella in your child’s lunch box, your child will be asked to eat their lunch in the front office and will then need to wash their hands thoroughly before going to play. An allergy alert notice will be placed in your child’s lunchbox to remind you that we are a nut aware school. We understand that some families may find having to source alternative lunch products an inconvenience but this pales in comparison to the risk placed to someone’s life by including these products in your child’s lunchbox. We know our community is kind and caring and that no-one would intentionally cause harm to another, so we are confident that everyone will do their very best to ensure that no nuts or nut related products are sent to school.
Medical Action Plans
We also remind all parents that if your child has developed an allergy or has a medical condition like asthma that you provide the front office with details of the medical action plan so that we can ensure that your child receives the very best care while at school. Anaphylactic plans need to be updated yearly. Please ensure that you provide the school with the latest plan.
Sacrament of Eucharist
This weekend, many of our Year 4 students will attend an enrolment Mass at Our Lady of Mercy parish, for the Sacrament of Eucharist. The Year 4 students are preparing to receive Christ in the Holy Eucharist at the end of this term, and we ask that you keep these students in your prayers.
Pupil Free Days
Please remember that we have included the pupil free days that were missed due to lockdown last term, into this term. These days provide our staff with the opportunity to participate in professional development activities that improve teaching practice and student learning outcomes. Please take note of the pupil free days for Term 3 at the end of this newsletter.
God bless you all.

Footsteps Dance In-School Program
Next week, all students from Pre-Primary to Year 6 will be participating in a Dance Program with Footsteps. Since 1995, Footsteps has taught throughout Australia and New Zealand focusing on the creative, fun and engaging connection between student and dance.
Students will engage in a 40 minute lesson once per week and be taught a variety of dance styles as an individual or in groups. The program is directly linked to the Dance, Creative Arts & HPE curriculum and students will establish skills in fundamental movement as well as appreciation for cultural dance.
There is a focus on familiarising students with the elements of dance, choreography, characterisation and more. Student will learn to interact with others and demonstrate appropriate social skills with their peers. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to engage in essential learning experiences that develop knowledge, understanding and skills.
