Mercersburg Elementary
News from the Nest
From the desk of the principal!
From the Nurse
I hope everyone had a wonderful break!
Now it is time to roll up our sleeves
and trek for the finish line…June!
So far I haven’t seen too much illness. We are holding our own here at Mercersburg.
I’m sure that would be fine with all of you, as well as me, if it stays that way. But working with school age children, I can tell you the chances of that happening are slim.
Please keep your child home if he/she has:
· Fever
· Vomiting
· Diarrhea
Your child should not have any vomiting, diarrhea or fever for 24 hours prior to coming to school. This means that without medication your child does not have a fever.
Cough drops-If you want to be sure that your child will have cough drops when needed, please send in a bag and I will put your child’s name on it.
Clothing-Every day I see numerous spills and children who just couldn’t “make it”.
I try to provide clean, dry clothes but I don’t always have the right sizes. If anyone has elastic band pants that you are going to get rid of, please send them my way. I have plenty of bigger girl pants, but not many for small girls, big or small boys. They do not need to be in perfect condition. Just enough to get a child out of wet clothes for the day. I appreciate your help!
Attendance
Attendance
Attendance Policy: In keeping with PA state regulations and the Tuscarora School Board policy #204, absences shall be treated as unexcused until the school office receives a written excuse explaining the absence. Written excuses must be submitted to the office within three days of the absence. If the office does not receive a written excuse within three days the absence becomes unexcused. After three unexcused absences the next unexcused absence becomes an unlawful absence which could lead to notification of the local magisterial district judge, as well as a referral to the County Children and Youth Agency. If you have any questions in regards to attendance or excuses received, please contact the school secretary at 328-3127 ext. 2500.
