March 8-12, 2021 - Principal Lunde's Weekly Update
Next Steps for Returning to School
It is so exciting to see steps towards a return to campus. Two major steps have occurred:
1) There are 30 UELF Students working on campus in the Learning Hubs. The Learning Hubs are supporting students for a variety of reasons, plus supporting the school site getting materials ready for the return of students.
2)UELF Families shared their requests for if their children will return for on campus Hybrid classes or continue with distance learning. This decision is personal and every family is encouraged to make the decision that best fits your family. Our community has students returning and students continuing to work from home.
- April 12 for TK-2
- April 19 for 3-5
School tours will be held the week of March 29 to support students and families knowing how to be on campus safely. A sign-up genius will be sent home with the letter that shares what cohort your child will be in. Anticipate knowing this prior to spring break.
I recognize there is a spectrum of ideas, opinions, and needs in our UELF community around the return to school. I ask you to:
1) focus on the needs of your child (academic, social emotional, physical)
2) work with your teacher to address these needs
3) analyze what is working and what is challenging for your family right now
During Mrs. Lunde's Weekly Family Check-Ins, every Thursday at 4:30pm, I am providing updates around returning to school and the group discusses questions and concerns relevant to our site. Call or email Christina Lunde, christina_lunde@crpusd.org, if you have any questions or just want to talk and have someone listen to you. I am here to support your child and you.

While shopping for books, be sure to have students record reading minutes in the reading log. The students are challenged to read 70,000 minutes as a school and if they do, Mrs. Lunde will dye her hair BLUE!
Mrs. Lunde reads every day for lots of different reasons....what and when you do read?

Mindful Use of Social Media
Social media is an incredibly powerful tool that can be both extremely positive or the opposite. We have seen both scenarios play out over time here at UELF. Recently, we have seen some social media posts from staff and families that have raised the temperature on the discussion surrounding just how much time our students should be on campus. This is an incredibly important topic and one that is worthy of conversation. We ask that these conversations remain respectful.
As a school, we are unified around many things, particularly by our desire to provide the best possible education for all of our students. As part of this Unified District, we want everyone in our community - students, staff, family members, community members - to conduct themselves appropriately, as we are all part of the CRPUSD family.
To that end, we ask everyone to refrain from personal insults or attacks, as they do not help in this situation or any other, and only serve to inflame tensions.
Whether we are families, staff, or both, we all want the best for our students. We hope everyone assumes the best of intentions in each other, and that we will find ways to work together to provide the best for our students.
