Announcements and Reminders
Parent Pick-up and Drop-off
Just a friendly reminder that parent pick-up and drop-off are at the back of Seckinger High School. For the safety and security of students, the front lanes are for buses to load and unload only.
Parking Reminders from Beginning of the Year
Please review the information sent out at the beginning of the year regarding student drop off. Below you will find the traffic pattern for bus and vehicle entry/exit to campus.
Buses will follow the red pattern and enter/exit at the traffic light.
All other vehicles will enter/exit from W Rock Quarry Road (back of campus near baseball/softball fields). Parent drop off/pick up will follow the blue pattern. Students may be dropped off at the lower attendance office entrance at 6:45 AM.
Student drivers will also enter/exit from W Rock Quarry Road (back of campus near baseball/softball fields). Student drivers will be provided a lot assignment. Each student who drives an automobile to school must register the vehicle by purchasing a parking permit. Parking permits cost $70.00 for the year and can be purchased on MyPaymentsPlus. Therefore, certain rules and regulations are expected of the student to maintain this privilege.
Walkers will use the sidewalks on Sardis Church Road and cross at the light. Walkers will leave campus through the side doors in the tower, cross at the gate at the top of our drive, and proceed to traffic light.
See our video showing how to drive this traffic pattern: https://youtu.be/i6lTE_iY-TU
Student Parking
Parking permits can be purchased on MyPaymentsPlus. The cost is $70.00. Print and complete the Student Parking form and provide a copy of a valid driver's license and proof of insurance to receive a parking decal (located in Room T326). Remember, parking on campus is a privilege. Therefore, certain rules and regulations are expected of the student to maintain this privilege. Students are not permitted to park in the front parking lot. Please contact Judy Carter (judy.carter@gcpsk12.org) or Dr. Grund (shanti.grund@gcpsk12.org) for questions.
Upgraded Security Vestibules
There is a new layer of security at Seckinger High School! The new feature is now added to our vestibules: a small room between the outer door to the building and the entrance to the interior of the building. Security vestibules make schools safer by creating a secured double-entry system. Visitors must first get “buzzed in” to the vestibule through a pair of locked doors via the school’s Visitor Management System. They will remain in the vestibule until an ID is verified and they are “buzzed in” through a second set of doors which lead to the front office or the attendance office. Once inside the school, all visitors must proceed to the designated sign-in area. This enhanced security measure and additional check-point increases the safety of students and staff, lengthens the amount of time required to enter from the outside, and enhances our ability to have a safe, secure, successful school.
Please plan for a slightly longer check-out process. We appreciate your patience, cooperation, and continued support of SKG.
Educational Effectiveness Survey for Families
GCPS wants parent feedback on nine characteristics of high-performing schools. On February 28, it will email parents a survey link through School Messenger. The link will also be posted in the Parent Portal and be active through March 10.
The results will be reviewed and evaluated by each school individually. We thank you for your participation and thoughtful responses!
