Raven Family Resource
Royal Oak High School - March 17, 2023
Raven Families,
This message is in support of our awesome ROHS PTSA. Our PTSA is a strong organization that provides many services to our school which directly benefits all of our children. We need your assistance to make sure many of these events/programs can continue. Here’s how you can help. First, go online and sign your entire family up as a member of ROHS’s PTSA. Your entire family is welcome to join…that includes grandma, grandpa, aunts and uncles! Participation has decreased in the past couple of years for a variety of reasons, some of which we couldn't control. ROHS PTA is looking for interested individuals to be involved at all levels within the PTA at our school. Volunteer at an event, help organize and implement an event by being on a committee or chairing a committee, or sit on the Executive PTA Board.
Have a great weekend!
March 23 Open House & Personal Project Exhibition
March 24 Half Day for Staff & Students

ROHS OPEN HOUSE & PERSONAL PROJECT EXHIBITION
Royal Oak High School will host its Annual Open House on Thursday, March 23, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. The event will highlight various opportunities for incoming students while showcasing academics, visual and performing arts, and athletics. Open house is a great opportunity to get an idea of what ROHS has to offer in terms of academics and extracurricular activities. We will also feature performances by our band and choir groups. The event will take place in the auditorium and throughout the building. All incoming 8th graders and current students as well as parents and guardians are welcome to attend.
Incoming 8th-grade parent(s)/guardian(s) and students only. There will be a quick presentation in the auditorium from 6:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., followed by a quick student performance. Our student leaders will review information about our programs at ROHS. We would strongly recommend attending the presentation before heading out to meet with teachers.
As a reminder, the ROHS OPEN HOUSE & PERSONAL PROJECT EXHIBITION is for incoming 8th graders and their parent(s)/guardian(s) as well as current ROHS students and parent(s)/guardian(s).
If you have any questions about this event please email Brittany Landau at brittany.landau@royaloakschools.org

HAVEN CONSENT TRAINING - RESCHEDULED
The remaining HAVEN’s Consent Training sessions for high school seniors have been rescheduled for March 13 & 17. HAVEN’s Consent Training program will occur during the school day and is designed to support young adults in the development of safe relationships by providing information to increase understanding of ethical/affirmative consent, effective bystander techniques, and how to respond and support a friend who has experienced sexual violence. The curriculum will be presented by skilled Prevention Education Specialists. All 12th-grade students received an email with their session date, time, and location today. ROHS PICK-UP & DROP-OFF
We know that drop-off and pick-up can be difficult with everyone's busy schedules. With a few hundred students who are coming to and leaving school during a very short turnaround time of 10 - 15 minutes, we need to ensure safety. In order to do this in a safe and efficient manner, it is imperative that all families respect and follow the designated drop-off and pick-up location.
One of the greatest and growing areas of concern is the practice of families dropping students off in the circle drive (Lexington/Crooks). This is an area for buses only. We will be working with RO Police Officers to help reinforce this No Parking/Drop off Zone. Thank you for your support and understanding.
VAPING
Your continued and consistent help is needed. While having family discussions, we ask that you partner with us to speak out against vaping. Collectively we can do this. Our goal is to change this negative behavior occurring around our great school (especially in the bathrooms). Together WE can make a difference. OUR entire school community will be better because of this work. Thank you so much in advance for your efforts. OUR kids will love us for it!
NO PLACE FOR HATE
ROHS is pleased to join the ADL in the NO PLACE FOR HATE campaign. As partners in this student driven commitment, ROHS's pledge is to:
- Try at all times to be aware of bias and seek to understand those perceived different from others
- Reach out to support those who are targets of hate
- Think of specific ways to promote respect for people and create a prejudice free zone
- Speak out against all forms of prejudice and discrimination
ECF CHROMEBOOKS
Parent(s)/Guardian(s) can complete the ECF Chromebook Request Form in order to get a Chromebook for a student. Please make sure to read the request/commitment form carefully. Chromebooks will be delivered to ROHS toward the end of each week.
