ESSAY option for SAT testing for Juniors only

SAT testing for Juniors will be April 9, 2019. All Junior students have been registered for the April 9th SAT test day by the school district. The SAT has an optional essay that students can take that adds 50 minutes to the length of the test. Although not required, students are highly encouraged to take the essay portion of the SAT as many colleges/universities require it for admission. Students who are interested in taking the optional essay portion of the SAT must add the essay to their SAT registration themselves. Students wishing to take the optional essay will need to register to do so either by contacting College Board directly at 866-630-9305 or online at DEADLINE to add the essay is Tuesday, February 12th. This is a hard deadline; no exceptions! If students need help in registering for the essay they may come to the counseling office for assistance.

Student Safety

Very often, students are the first line of defense in helping their friends and classmates. As counselors, we want to make sure you feel equipped to navigate situations that arise. Should you become concerned for the safety of our building or an individual while at school, please come to Mrs. Swann, Mrs. Pethtel, or Mr. Barela immediately.

If a safety concern arises while you are at home, Safe 2 Tell is a wonderful resource. You can anonymously report safety concerns at Just go to the website and click on “Submit an Anonymous Report”. School officials and law enforcement will be alerted and will support the situation appropriately. Please always err on the side of caution, we want our school and all of our students to be safe!

If your student is in need of counseling support while at home they can utilize the free Crisis Text Line for teens at Text TALK to 38255. To find out more about this resource please go to
