It's back.........Little Caesars Pizza Kit school-wide fundraiser from March 7-April 7, 2022
Back by Popular Demand....and it's a great way to raise funds for Burkholder Middle School by simply purchasing Little Caesars Pizza Kits that you and your family can make at home together!
WE all like pizza and these pizzas are super good! All you need to do is just click on our school's link, Burkholder Jags, look over the available kits, and then pay for your cart using a credit card. The incredibly yummy kits are mailed directly to your house by FedEx. It is the exact same price to ship 1 or 2 kits, so I’m thinking everyone will want to order at least 2 kits or more.
You can even order kits and have them shipped to a friend or even a family member across the country. Or, you can share the link above and have a friend or family member order their own kit. Every kit we sell earns Burkholder MS a $6 profit and that makes an impact.
Let's all get ready to make a personally styled pizza at home, just the way you want it! Thank you so much for contributing to our school. Again, feel free to share information or the link with family and friends so they too can order pizza kits.

What is Happening in Our Classrooms?
ELA
Math
We are busy practicing SBAC testing questions and studying our current topics for math. Grade 6 students are studying ratios and solving real life situations with ratios, by converting ratios and writing them as unit rates. Seventh graders are developing formulas for adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing integers. Students are applying formulas to solve real world problems. Accelerated 7th graders are finding circumference and areas of difficult problems. Pre algebra continues to understand linear equations and graphing story problems. Algebra is working on exponential functions and applying growth and decay to real world situations. Geometry is applying logical reasoning and mathematical theorems with quadrilaterals.
Trust me, these topics are grade appropriate, but difficult. Ask your child at home if they can explain what they are actually doing in math class to solve these problems.
Science
In 6th grade science, we are wrapping up our unit on cells and will be doing an in-class cell city project to build a model that represents the organelles and how they function. We will then spend the remainder of our year on body systems and how they all work together to allow humans to function.
In 7th grade science, we just finished up our unit on Earth’s Resources. We are now starting our last unit of study called Dynamic Earth. We will look at the history of our planet and the forces that are constantly changing and shaping our Earth, including plate tectonics, earthquakes and volcanoes.
In 8th grade science, we are working on DNA, cells, heredity, and mutations.
Congratulations to Ms. Pande

Burkholder Counseling Vision Statement:
Students are life-long learners who are productive community leaders that emulate the core values of the school. They do so with an emphasis on excellence while having integrity and respect for themselves and others. They continue to demonstrate volunteerism in their communities and maintain a generous spirit of giving. They embrace differences and acknowledge the vast similarities in the human race. They are reflective in words and actions and are forward thinking individuals who continually make a positive impact on the world. Every student adapts to the ever-changing and complex world around them.
Academic Planning
During the last two weeks of March, our counselors will be out in 6th and 7th grade classrooms helping students to plan academically. (Eighth grade students have already met with counselors from both Basic Academy and Foothill High School to plan for their first year of high school.) Students will be reviewing their transcripts as well as picking their coursework for the next school year.
Please take time to review your student's Academic Plan on Infinite Campus and discuss their coursework for the following year. We appreciate your support in these discussions by helping students to connect their middle school plan to their future.
