Literacy, Learning and Local Events... oh my!
Calling all book lovers! The Readers & 'ritas Conference is for you!
Here is some info from the website about the Readers & 'ritas Conference:
Fresh Fiction...connects readers and authors.
Readers & 'ritas is held the second weekend of November in North Texas and this event brings in over 250 readers to enjoy a weekend with authors. Click here for all the deets!
Have you heard of The Flea? If you are in the mood for a little shopping, head on over to this indoor Marketplace for some vintage, one-of-a-kind and handmade items. Along with 140+ vendors, there will be music, food trucks, and kids under 12 are free! See you there on November 7th. More info here.
There will also be another event, right here in The Colony, that has become very popular of the last few years - American Heroes: A Salute to Veterans Festival.
This festival, on November 7th, will include a midway, car, truck and bike show, silent auction, live entertainment (Lee Greenwood singing God Bless the USA at 7:30), and will conclude with fireworks at 9pm!
Family Fun Contest for November
There's an app, extension and/or website for that!
Pack your bags for a Virtual Tour: Here is a link provided by Common Sense Media that provides a robust list of resources for planning your student's getaway related to your content!
Do you love Chrome Extensions? If you have a fab few that you use over and over, please share them with me.
I love one that Kalbac just introduced me to called goo.gl URL Shortener. With just a click, you can create a shorter url and/or qr code for whatever you are working on.
Print Friendly & PDF is another extension, I like, that will remove ads and let you edit font, remove text and/or images, etc. before printing web pages.
I love to share photos on social media, but I don't always know which students have turned in their consent forms so I use an app called Touch Blur, by Jin Jeon, to obscure students' faces. It is so easy to use - just a swipe of your finger and you're done.
