Progress Reports - Posted Today in Family Access
Progress reports have been released in Family Access. The District 109 progress report is based on the principles of “standards-based grading” which is a way to communicate what students know at a point in time rather than calculating an average of performance over an entire period. Standards-based grading measures a student’s performance according to the standards taught rather than comparing student progress to other students.
Parent Conferences- Final posting
We will hold our annual parent-teacher conferences on Monday, November 22 in the evening and all day on Tuesday, November 23.
Conferences are a discussion between parents and teachers. At this time elementary conferences do not include students and therefore we ask that children not attend the parent-teacher conference. We ask that you please find a quiet place for your Zoom conference, without your child.
If you have not signed up for a conference please do so today. To access the parent-conference sign-up form, click on the button below.
Specials teachers will hold open Zoom sessions during parent conferences. If you would like to visit with a specials teacher simply click on the link to their Zoom session. If they are with another parent you may have to wait for a few minutes. Click the button below to access the conference schedule and Zoom links for art, PE, music, STEAM, and LMC (library).

COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic Registration
There are spots open at the clinics being held by Passport Health at Shepard Middle School starting next week. Due to a number of cancellations, please feel free to share the below link with families that do NOT have a DPS 109 student. The last thing we want are unused spots! Please note these clinics are ONLY for 5-11 year olds. Click here to sign up your child.
Picture Retakes - November 30
All families should have received an email from our photographer, Stuart Rodgers. The email includes one image of your student and the instructions for ordering photos on line. We are also sending home a hard copy of the proof with students. We will hold picture retakes for those who are not happy with the original photo and for those who were absent on picture day. Picture retakes will be held on Tuesday, November 30. If you would like your child to participate in picture retakes please complete the retake form by clicking here. Please complete a new form for each student in need of a retake. This form is ONLY for students participating in picture retakes. If you have questions please email Stuart Rodgers Photography: info@srphoto.com

SHIELD Testing-ongoing posting (updates)
Due to increased testing volume across Illinois, DPS109 now receives SHIELD results within 48 hours. This slower turnaround time impacts our ability to contact families prior to the next school day with results. We ask for your continued partnership in keeping students healthy and in school. Please complete Daily Health Certifications, and make sure your contact information is current in Family Access to help your nurses/staff efficiently make notifications and contact trace.
Shield testing will continue each week on Thursday. If there is no school on a Thursday, we will test on Friday Testing is not mandatory. However, by consenting to the testing, your child’s name is put on a roster and the expectation is that they will be testing weekly unless a parent/guardian notifies us otherwise.
IF YOU ARE LOOKING TO FILL OUT THE SHIELD CONSENT FORM please
log in to Skyward/Family Access and it should appear as a green box next to your child’s name. Contact Kristen Neu (kneu@dps109.org) with any Family Access questions.
IF YOU WANT YOUR CHILD TO OPT OUT OF A WEEK OF TESTING…
- Click here to fill out the required Google Form by 8:00 am each Wednesday (the day prior to testing):
