A NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
There is so much excitement around here today. Our 8th graders are anxiously waiting for school to be over so they can rush home to prepare for this evening's dance. Mrs. Sedivec and Mrs. Schmitz have transformed Carribine with a red carpet and paparazzi photo station. Our teachers are busy preparing for Open House on Sunday from 9:00 am until 12:00. The used book sale takes place in the computer lab, donuts, coffee, and bottled water will be available, the thrift store will be open, and all of our teachers on hand will visit with you. Anyone who ordered artwork can pick it up on Sunday. The art pieces were delivered to classrooms this afternoon. Finally, today we unveiled the Class of 2020 ceiling tile, which will be mounted in the junior high wing. Thank you to Colin Willett, Cole Sedivec, and Bella Pallardy, all part of the Class of 2020 who were on hand today helping with the book sale.
Grace and peace,
Mrs. Molly Hibler

Young Authors Recognized
Of the many books submitted to the ESC for judging, only the top 5 (at most) for each grade received this distinction! All four St. Jude Students received “Honorable Mentions” for the writing and/or illustrations! Congratulations, we are very proud of you! A special thank you to Mrs. Colleen Franke for your time and effort working with all our students preparing for this competition.

Save the Date
Attention all band parents. The spring band concert will be on Thursday, May 27 @ 6:30 pm under the pavilion. Having the concert outdoors is the safest way for the band students to share the music they have been playing this year. This will be a graded performance for Concert Band students, meaning attendance and participation are required. If for any reason, you do not feel comfortable having your child participate, you must let Mrs. Ramsey know either by email or handwritten note as soon as possible in order for your child to be excused.
We will be watching the weather closely as this date approaches. If the weather does not permit the concert to be held (i.e. wind, thunderstorms), it will be canceled. You are asked to bring your own lawn chair or blanket as we will have very limited seating provided. A gentle rain will probably not cancel the concert, but there will be limited space available for the audience in the pavilion, so we ask that you limit those who attend.
Right to Read Week May 31-June 4th
During the week of May 31st, St. Jude School will be celebrating Right to Read Week. The theme this year will be “Our Favorite Books!” Below are some activities planned for the week. On Friday, June 4th, the entire school will go outside (weather permitting) and read from 1:40 to 2:20. If it rains, the students can spread their towels or blankets on the classroom floor and read.

Summer Math+ Program at St. Ignatius - Starts June 15th
St. Ignatius High School to offer an advanced Mathematics course taught by David Sabol.
The Math+ program includes 6 courses. Each Math+ course focuses on 1 major idea based on key concepts included in Stanford University’s introductory math sequence.
This Summer, the Math+ course will focus on Number Theory – the study of integers (e.g., -1, 2, 3). Over the six classes, we will explore different aspects of this critical concept and will learn what Number Theory is and how it relates to computer applications and important topics including cryptography. A letter about the course is attached.
The six-session course will be taught on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 1:15-2:15 pm starting on Tuesday, June 15th, and ending on June 24th. The course will be held in person at St. Ignatius High School.
For families interested in the online/virtual Math+ course, we are also planning to open an online Math+ course in the Summer.
We think that many of the students at your school would enjoy and benefit from Math+ so we would appreciate your help letting families know about this program. If you could provide the attached information to families who may be interested, we would very much appreciate it. Families can sign-up at www.RedwoodPrep.com.
