Principal's Update
Hello,
It is nice to have a break in the rain on the planning day, and I hope you all have an opportunity to get outside and enjoy the fall weather. We enjoyed our spirit day this Monday and seeing so many of our students dressed in their “cozy” clothes at school.
This Monday November 8th, teachers will be sharing their conference sign up link with families. Please keep an eye out for communication from your student’s teacher on Monday.
The Southeast Guiding Coalition met on Thursday evening to continue reviewing draft proposals to address enrollment and program challenges across SE schools. In response to coalition concerns and suggestions, a third draft proposal will be developed to consider other ways to improve equity of access and opportunity at schools that serve both dual language immersion and standard neighborhood programs. They are postponing the scheduled community engagement sessions next week in order to develop this third scenario. As soon as they release the new community engagement sessions, I will share that information with you.
District leadership is asking for your feedback on the phase 2 planning process. Please use the survey link below to provide feedback on the Phase 2 process.
Have a restful weekend.
Sincerely,
Dr. Kristy Mize

Mid-level Schedule Information for Quarter 2
- Mid-level Quarter 2 electives start on Monday, November 8. Finalized student schedules are now available in ParentVue. Andrew Dauch, assistant principal, will be on the south playground before school on Monday, November 8 with hardcopies of schedules for students.
Important Information for Students Taking Spanish
- Spanish will now occur during Period 2. We are dealing with a technical issue with the PPS Synergy system in making this change. Currently, Spanish mistakenly appears on student schedules as occurring during both Periods 1 & 2, but this is an error. Spanish will occur for all students only during Period 2. Thank you for your patience as we work to correct this error.
Please contact assistant principal, Andrew Dauch, adauch@pps.net regarding any questions you have about mid-level scheduling

Creative Science School Weekly Screening Schedule
We have begun to receive OHSU labels. We have also been notified that due to the volume of schools/students signing up for the screening OHSU is behind on creating labels. Thank you for your patience. Please note: Not all students who signed up have received labels yet from OHSU. When these are delivered they will go home on Fridays.
Please keep these labels at home to attach to your student's sample. There are detailed directions linked here and attached to your labels. You will not get a test kit until you get labels.
If you get a test kit on Monday. Perform the spit test on Tuesday morning and then bring the sample to school that morning.
On Tuesday mornings, a district representative will be in the front of the school with a sign and a cooler for families to collect the samples during drop-off from 8:30-9am.
You can find sample collection instructions here.
Test kits go home on Mondays.
Please do the spit test on Tuesday morning and bring it to school for drop off on Tuesdays between 8:30 am and 9 am. We cannot take test kits after this time.
Keep your labels and please label your own student’s tube. Thank you.
OHSU expects to provide families with results within 48 hours of the specimen being dropped off at the school. You will receive a secure email with your child's results. Please be sure the primary email addresses are updated and you have the correct email address noted that you wish results to go to.
If it is a positive result, you will need to call the CSS nurse’s office and inform them immediately and follow the guidance provided to you. You will be asked to keep your child home from school. 503-916-6431 ext. 73339
