Nutrition Tip
Spring time is just around the corner, which means your kids will be playing outside more
and possibly involved in outdoor organized sports. So it is even more essential to make
sure your child is well hydrated. Advertisements may try to convince you that your child
needs to hydrate with a juice box or sports drinks. The reality is that these drinks can be
high in added sugar.
Water is the best hydration tool for your child. Hydrating with water is essential for your
children because it provides fluid for their growing cells, protects them from joint injuries,
maintains proper organ function, and will manage their body temperature preventing them
from dehydrating. If your child thinks water is boring, you can “jazz” up that water by
adding sliced fruit or lemon. If you really want a thumbs up from your child, stick a silly fun
straw and pour the water into a fun bottle. Let your child see that you like drinking water.
Remember, you are the most important influence on our child.
Social Emotional Learning Strength: Hope
The goal of Social Emotional Learning is to ensure a sense of safety and well-being for children as they engage in school and at home through quality literature. We nurture our students and nudge them forward with challenges that can ensure that they grow in their confidence and continue to grow in their competence.
HOPE is the last thing that should be lost in any challenge. When you have hope you are more likely to confront and overcome obstacles. You can see the endless possibilities and understand the power as readers, thinkers and doers. There is Hope for a better tomorrow.
