Florham Park Integrated Preschool

Preschool Lottery Applications Available January 30th

Seats available for September 2023!

Dear Florham Park Community,

The Florham Park School District is pleased to announce that the District will again be operating its Integrated Preschool Program for the 2023-2024 school year. We offer both a full day and a half day program. We are conducting lotteries for both programs. We have several openings for the fall and look forward to welcoming new faces to our classrooms!

Since demand for this excellent early childhood program often outweighs the number of available seats, entrance into the program is via a lottery. The application will be available starting, January 30th at the link below and all applications are due by Monday, March 13, 2023. The eligibility drawing will be held on March 15, 2023. Families of students selected for seats will be notified within a week of the drawing. Those families who were not selected for open seats will be placed on a waitlist in the order in which their application was drawn in the lottery and will be notified on a rolling basis as seats become available. Changes certainly do occur and families on the waitlist will be notified on a rolling basis as seats become available.

Our preschool program is an excellent option for families in our community--we provide a wonderful educational experience for our littlest learners and we look forward to meeting a new group of students in the fall! Please see below for more information about our program.

Welcoming our Littlest Learners to the Briarwood School Community!

As a part of our Briarwood School community, students in our Preschool Program enjoy an excellent education, fun events, and incorporation into the larger school community. Students in our Preschool Program are part of the Briarwood Community and are provided with activities and opportunities that prepare them to transition to our Kindergarten program, including socializing and interacting with the Kindergarten staff and students. Briarwood Elementary School also conducts specific days where preschool students work directly with the Kindergarten staff, as well as parent visitation days and Back-to-School Nights, to ensure a flawless transition from Preschool to Kindergarten for our students and their families.

This program differentiates itself from others by incorporating integrated classroom related service activities, consisting of speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and adaptive physical education activities.

Big picture

Engaging, Fun, and Rigorous Curriculum

Our classrooms are enriching environments, separated into distinct interest areas where learning in the form of exploration and discovery take place on a daily basis. These centers, along with guided large and small group activities and a well-stocked classroom library, provide our littlest learners with a well-rounded and meaningful experience.

Our classrooms use The Creative Curriculum® for Preschool, a comprehensive, research-based curriculum that features exploration and discovery as a way of learning, enabling children to develop confidence, creativity, and lifelong critical-thinking skills.

It is also a New Jersey Department of Education suggested Early Childhood Education curriculum. This curriculum specifies content to be taught in the following areas, all according to New Jersey Preschool Teaching and Learning Expectations:

  • Literacy: vocabulary and language, phonological awareness, letters, words, print, comprehension, and books and other texts as sources of enjoyment
  • Mathematics: numbers, patterns and relationships, geometry and spatial awareness, measurement, and data collection, organization, and representation
  • Science: physical science, life science, and earth and the environment
  • Social Studies: spaces and geography, people and how they live, people and the environment, and people and the past
  • The Arts: dance, music, drama, and the visual arts
  • Technology: awareness of technology, basic operations and concepts, technological tools, and people and technology

Additionally, all full-day Preschool students enjoy lunch, outdoor play, and are provided with an opportunity to nap or quietly rest each day.
