Centrism
By: Katharine Raguckas
What is centrism and what do they believe?
Centrism is a political ideology based on reason and pragmatism considerate of short and long term thinking. It is about achieving common sense solutions that appropriately address current and future needs; support the public trust; and serve the common good with consideration of risk and capacity in context of these needs. They could also me referred to as "moderates". They sometimes favor government intervention and sometimes support individual freedom of choice. Centrists pride themselves on keeping an open mind, tend to oppose "political extremes", and emphasize what they describe as "practical" solutions to problems.
Famous Centrists
An example of a centrist is Bill Clinton, the former 42nd President of the United States.
