Mrs. Bellito's Classroom Newsletter
January 13, 2024
Dear Families,
Happy New Year! The class settled into our routines after winter break and seemed happy to be back. I was glad to see everyone and continue our learning together.
Thank you for your patience and understanding on Friday with the changing weather and attempts to log into our Google Meet for online learning. I hope you all stay warm and safe during the weekend weather.
I look forward to seeing the class next week!
Thank you,
Mrs. Bellito
Reading Workshop
Many students are ready to sound out more words as they read more challenging books. We slow down, say the beginning, middle and end sounds and blend those sounds together to try to read the word. It is wonderful to see the progress students have made in reading!
Phonics
Here is a link to all Kindergarten snap words.
We have learned 39 Kindergarten snap words! We practice reading, spelling and writing the words at school. Students are ready to spell these words correctly in their daily writing.
Math
We are learning how to use Number Bonds to put together and take apart numbers. We learned the vocabulary: whole and parts. For example, 3 and 2 make 5. The whole is 5 and the parts are 3 and 2. Students use picture representations to build their understanding of addition and subtraction before learning how to write number sentences like 3 + 2 = 5.
