Mrs. Faccio's 4th Grade Newsletter

What's Up in the Classroom?

Reading - Students are now focusing solely on the aspects of poetry. We will be doing a lot of analyzing next week and breaking down poetry into it's different components.

Writing - We are done with the writing portion of our poetry unit. The kids did an amazing job and you will get to see their end product this weekend when they bring it home. It's in a booklet! We will be starting our 4th grade memories next!

Math - We've finished our 4th grade curriculum and are now working on higher level concepts. Students are learning anything from multiplying decimals by decimals to dividing fractions by whole numbers. They are broken up based on their winter MAP scores. This is guiding the instruction of each classroom.

Science - The control system is the current unit of study. Students are having fun with the different experiments and learning just how this amazing body of ours works!

Smarter Balance and MAP

We are wrapping up the Smarter Balance test today! Students did a really nice job taking their time and putting forth their best effort.

We will do the MAP reading and math test on May 27 and May 28 at 9:00. If possible, please do not schedule any appointments on those days.

The Forest Glen school carnival is right around the corner. Fourth grade students are slotted for the 2-3 time frame. If you are available and willing to help, we will gladly take you. We need people to paint faces, monitor jump houses, run games and all sorts of other things. So, please consider helping!
