Coming Events

November 16 - Schnecksville Elementary Turkey Trot, 1 PM. After weeks of training in physical education class to improve fitness levels, the fourth and fifth graders will run a timed mile at the Annual Turkey Trot held outside on the school’s property. (Event was rescheduled to next week due to rain this week).

November 17 - Parkland School Board Meeting Workshop 7 PM. Parkland will review detailed plans for the redistricting of all eight sending elementary schools and both middle schools for the 2016-17 school year. The regular School Board meeting will start at 8 PM. Board President and Master School Board Director Roberta Marcus will be honored for her 20 years of service as a Parkland School Board Director.

PHS Children's Show - Disney's Mulan, Jr.

November 13 – 7:30 PM, November 14 – 11:00 AM & 3:00 PM, November 15 – 3:00 PM

PHS students will perform Disney’s Mulan Jr. on the Parkland High School auditorium stage! Defying the village matchmaker, Mulan takes up arms and disguises as a boy in order to spare her father from having to serve in the army. The Huns have invaded, and it is up to the misfit Mulan and her mischievous sidekick Mushu to save the Emperor! Disney’s Mulan Jr. is a heartwarming celebration of culture, honor, and the fighting spirit.

November 16, College Financial Aid Night, PHS Auditorium, 7 PM. Featuring Michael Burke, Higher Education Access Partner - Southeast Region PHEAA—Pennsylvania School Services, this program is for students and parents. An extremely informative program about the financial aid process that many colleges and universities use today, the program will cover:

November 19, Community Advisory Council Meeting, Administration Center, 7 PM. The public is invited to attend this informative meeting about the Parkland Curriculum and Instruction practices and resources. Presented by Kelly Rosario, Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Professional Development.

Saturday, Nov. 14. Parkland Girls Volleyball vs. Cardinal O’Hara @ Governor Mifflin Intermediate School, Shillington, PA at 2 PM. Ticket prices: Adults $6, Students $3

Girls varsity soccer players Brooke Schutter and Rachel Medlar were named to the PA All State Girls Soccer team.

Congrats to the following PHS students who qualified for the 2016 PMEA District 10 Chorus: Grace Lerew, Jaclyn Bristel, Malerie Razzis, and Skylar Gutman (Soprano 1), Mara Cohen, Eliana Lemberg, and Brianna Parry (Soprano 2), Jillian Krempasky and Natalie Ondrey (Alto 1), Lisa Stein, Abby Kern, and Rasleen Grewal (Alto 2), Reese Diaz, Kyle Cohick, and Derek Miller (Tenor 1), Jacob Stahl and William McMahan (Tenor 2), Cameron Laudenslager and Richard Fanith (Bass 2), and Shaumik Phadke (Piano) . These musicians were selected from students in 70 school districts across seven counties in Pennsylvania.

PHS Science teacher Jeff Wetherhold will be featured on PBS's Focus TV show on Friday, Nov. 13th at 7 PM as a teacher who makes science engaging for teens. The segment will also feature some Parkland students. It rebroadcasts on Sunday, Nov. 15th at 11:30 AM and 5:30 PM; and again on Monday, Nov. 16th at 11:30 PM.

Turkey Trot
The Parkland Alumni 5k Turkey Trot and Kid’s Wild Turkey Sprint will be held on Nov 27th. You don’t have to be alumni to register – this is a community-wide event: Registration link
