Alder Weekly Update
Week of November 1, 2020
Message from the Principal
Week of November 2, 2020
Hello Alder Parents, Teachers and Students,
We completed a short, but productive week here at Alder. We are adjusting to our new normal, ensuring that students are instructed in a safe environment. Procedures for movement in the halls, using the bathroom, getting meals from the cafeteria, and or arrival/dismissal procedures have been carefully planned. As we implement plans, we adjust accordingly to increase safety and the welfare of our school population.
Our Renaissance updated some bulletin boards with the theme of Survivor, brightening our hallways and Commons Area.
This past week, we celebrated a Week of Respect. While we are clearly aware that respect never ends and it is an ongoing practice, we also love recognizing this week with special messages shared and colors worn as a sign of our unity and commitment. A thank you to our counselors for organizing the messages and days this week.
On October 29th, Mrs. Dilks, our Bilingual Parent Coordinator, held our 5th annual Noche Latina in a Google Meet format. She invited parents to attend and received a great turnout. She was able to connect with our middle schools’ parents to update them on new information and address questions. A huge thank you to Mrs. Dilks!
Our front office is working on scheduling pictures for our hybrid students; as well as our virtual students. There will be more information to come!
Just a quick reminder that if you have not completed and signed the Parent Affirmation Letter regarding the health screening of your child, please do so and send into school with your child. We really need these returned.
Also, our Parents’ Club recently held a fundraiser through Chipotle. If you participated, thank you for supporting Alder Avenue Middle School.
Have a great extended weekend with Thursday- Sunday off!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Giardina, Mrs. Day and Ms. Perone

Noche Latina
On Thursday, October 29th the 5th Noche Latina event took place virtually. More than 20 families attended this educational night. Bilingual Coordinators Jenny Dilks , Paola Florido and families experienced an interactive presentation where they learned about all the information that the School District has been sending to all families since September. Information was condensed and explained in Spanish with opportunities for parents to ask questions and express concerns. This presentation is now published as a resource in the Recursos para Padres website for all Hispanic parents to access. The Education Association of EHT sponsored free pizzas for all families that attended.
Please find some pictures of the event and a link to the website.
