Principal's Message
All Wake County Public Schools will be closed on November 11 & 12. On November 11, we honor all veterans who have bravely served our nation. On November 12, WCPSS has closed school so faculty and staff can pause and reflect on the challenging start to the school year. Teachers and staff have been asked to refrain from emails on this date.
I would like to wish all Track 2 families a very happy track out. We are excited to welcome Track 3 back to school. Track 3 students will not have school on Monday, November 15. November 15 will serve as the day to reflect on the school year for Track 3 only. We will see all Track 3 families on Tuesday, November 16.
School will be in session on Monday, November 15 for Tracks 1 and 4.
We are excited to announce our upcoming Spirit Week during the week of November 15.
Announcements
Volunteers/Visitors
At this time, only essential visitors are permitted in-person during school hours due to COVID-19. Parents/guardians are able to assist with outdoor lunch because this is an essential COVID-19 mitigation strategy we will employ while weather permits. When WCPSS opens schools to all volunteers/visitors, we will let you know.
We love having families volunteer! In the meantime, we invite parents/guardians to get involved in the following ways:
- Consider joining the PUE PTA
- Volunteer for supervising students during outdoor lunch
- Join us in-person for our upcoming PUE Landscaping Day! This is a great way to help enhance our campus and meet other PUE families.
- Send in items for learning experiences (i.e. crafts) and/or facilitate the learning experience virtually.
- Serve as a Virtual Mystery Reader for your child's class
- Attend PUE PTA Spirit Nights (Mark your calendars for joining us at Salsa Fresh this evening!)
- Volunteer to work in the Media Center before or after-school. If you have any questions about helping in the Media Center, please email Media Chair Victoria Williams.
We hope to receive updated guidance on volunteers no later than January 2022.

Bring Back Our Library Campaign!
Part of the PUE mission is to ensure each student has access to a variety of learning resources, many of which are maintained in the school's wonderful Media Center. In recent years more than an insubstantial number of Media Center resources have been lost as a result of student transitions, damage and obsolescence. In line with its mission to continuously support the school, the PUE PTA feels the need to replenish these resources is imperative, and financial help is needed. If you are able, please consider a recurring or one-time donation to help support this integral aspect of our Panthers' educational experience! Donate here!
Media Center Volunteers
Parents can come at 8:15-8:45am or 3:45-4:15pm. You are welcome to bring your child to stay in the media center BUT they must be a current PUE student. The front office will have the computer set up so you can register as a new volunteer or reactivate your volunteer status and obtain your Criminal Record Check clearance for 2021-2022. Sign-up for the 2nd quarter here. If you have any questions, please email Media Chair Victoria Williams. Thank you for volunteering!
Did you know that November is PTA Healthy Lifestyles Month?
From PTA Wellness Team: (from http://www.pta.org) Prioritizing you and your families’ overall health is important to living happy, meaningful lives. Part of a healthy lifestyle is staying active. The PTA supports the following staying active at home:
· Make Exercise a Family Habit
o Walk or bike to school together.
o Take a family walk around the block each night after dinner.
o Play upbeat music and dance your way through family chore times.
· Play Together
o Discover free and low-cost physical activity options near your home (parks, bike paths, hiking trails, tennis courts or community swimming pools).
o Spend an afternoon at the local playground.
o Play a round of miniature golf together.
· Set Family Fitness Goals
o Post goals on the refrigerator, along with a way to track everyone’s progress. Cheer each other on as goals are achieved!
o Train together for a charity walk or run.
o Get pedometers and have a contest to see who takes the most steps each week.
· Exchange “Screen Time” for Active Time
o Limit sedentary screen time (computer, tablets, video games, TV) to no more than two hours per day.
o Encourage your kids to sign up for some form of physical activity. Everyone can find something they enjoy.
o Support your child by making a commitment to practices and showing up for games or performances.
