May 30, 2021

I want to thank all the parents and students for an incredible year. This year has been especially unique with all the changes and changes: from distance learning to in-person school to afterschool extension activities. I want to take a moment to thank our staff, including teachers, office staff, and classified staff, for their ongoing flexibility. During this unprecedented time, teachers and staff learned to pivot at a moment's notice while keeping students at the forefront of everything they did.

Congratulations to all of our students for finishing another school year in a pandemic. Who would have ever thought!. The students continue to amaze me with how they persevered during this ever-changing time.
Special thanks to Oster's HSC Board and Oster's School Site Council for being awesome partners with the school. We would not be able to do the incredible things we do at Oster if it weren't for your support, dedication, and love for our school and students.

And last but not least, congratulations to the following staff who will be retiring or moving on to new and exciting opportunities:

Mrs. Sponseller (1st Grade), Mrs. Celestre (2nd Grade), Ms. Weller (3rd Grade), Mrs. McDowell (3rd Grade), Mrs. Grant (4th Grade), Mrs. Cline (TK), Mrs. Barbin (Admin Assistant), and Mrs. Cabri (Health Clerk). We wish you all the best in this new chapter of your life. Thank you for making a difference in our students and the Oster community.

Wishing everyone a wonderful summer break.

Go Cougars!

~Mrs. Taormina

USD Virtual Academy: 21/22 School Year

Union School District is looking forward to the return to our regular in-person school schedules for the 2021-2022 school year. Our schools are actively planning for students to be back on campus full time for in-person instruction in the fall. For the vast majority of students, we recognize that full time in-person instruction is the absolute best instructional model to meet both their academic and social emotional needs.

We also recognize that some families may be interested in continuing with virtual learning for the fall. Therefore, for the 2021-2022 school year, we are planning to offer a Virtual Learning Academy option. This program will be offered via independent study and is based on our Distance Learning instructional framework with dedicated virtual learning teachers. Students will participate in daily live small group and asynchronous instruction in their online class while still being connected with their home schools for afterschool activities, field trips and enrollment purposes. To determine if this opportunity may be of interest, please visit the USD VL Academy website to learn more about the program and enroll your child.

Please be sure to let the office know if you are planning on moving. It is essential we collect all relevant documents and technology from students not returning. This will also help us prepare our numbers for enrollment next school year. Thank you!

Online Summer Reading Resources

We are encouraging all of our students to keep their school-issued technology devices over the summer. This will allow students to continue to have access to the programs they have been using throughout the year. Online learning access and remote support will be available through July 23.

The library of available resources includes RAZ-Kids, Lexia, Typing Agent, Zearn, Brain Pop and more. Click HERE for the list of programs and instructions for logging in from your USD device. You will also find details for accessing tech support over the summer. Happy learning.

Lost and Found

We're putting the cart out by the office each day. Please check for lost clothing, water bottles, etc. Everything that isn't claimed by the last day of school will be donated to charity.
