"Achieving Our Dreams through Education"
THIS WEEK
Be Safe
Hello everyone, I hope you had a good break and stayed warm during the weather. I had a good time at the Metra watching basketball all weekend and visiting with family and friends, as well as yelling and cheering on the bulldogs.
I don't want to alarm anyone or cause any worry but school safety is worth talking about with the horrible tragedy that happened in Florida. I want to remind you that our school is safe and we all need to remain vigilant in keeping it safe. And if all of us adhere to the protocols in our buildings it will remain safe for our students and staff. These protocols include leaving outside doors locked and not propping them open or leaving them unlocked. This also includes ensuring "ALL" visitors check in at the front office, even if they are your family members.
We do have an emergency plan should there ever be a threat. This includes an external (soft) lockdown and internal (hard) lockdown. We will have a drill in the near future. We have also participated a workshop this Fall wherein we were given the RUN, HIDE, FIGHT training. With this being said, I want to say, "Let's continue to do our best to keep our students safe and to teacher them."
On the lighter side I included a fun article that reminds us of what time of year it is, the middle of the school year with good ideas on how to stay positive. It is called, "How to Mitigate Those Mid-Year Crankies" and I enjoyed it. You can find it HERE.
Let's have a great week!

Bullying Definition
I have included the definition of bullying here because it is important for us as a staff to know what bullying is and isn't. Our school has adopted the definition that OPI has given. Notice that a conflict or disagreement between students is not the same as bullying. Also notice that not "being nice" does not equal bullying. Become aware of what it is and learn to recognize when it is happening and when it is not happening.
