A Note from Mrs. Lee
Dear Parents,
If you haven't seen the fifth grade campers via Skaggs Twitter and FB, check them out. Skaggs Stars made us very proud! They were engaged, active, and respectful! They know how to learn and have fun at the same time.
Color Run
We are super excited to see a sea of "colors" at Skaggs tomorrow. As a reminder for Color Run on October 11th, we are promoting grade levels to wear their distinctive colors. You can help make it fun by getting them completely covered in their colors.

Green Star School
We are looking for a parent volunteer to lead our school in becoming a Green Star School. This program fosters teaching and modeling respect for our environment and natural resources. It will also qualify us to be eligible for awards and cash rewards. I have heard from students and parents asking about recycling, so if this is something you are interested in and have additional questions regarding the program, please let me know.

Fire Prevention
“Not every hero wears a cape. Plan and Practice your Escape!”
This year’s FPW campaign, “Not Every Hero Wears a Cape. Plan and Practice Your Escape!” works to educate everyone about the small but important actions they can take to keep themselves and those around them safe.
Did you know?
In a typical home fire, you may have as little as one to two minutes to escape safely from the time the smoke alarm sounds. Escape planning and practice can help you make the most of the time you have, giving everyone enough time to get out.
Plan ahead for your escape. Make your home escape plan and practice today.
Important Dates:
· October 6th-12th: National Fire Prevention Week
· Wednesday, October 9th: Fire Prevention posters are due to campuses
· Tuesday, October 15th: Grand Prize winning posters must be delivered to the Admin building
· Wednesday, October 30th: am citywide Awards Assembly at the City Council Chambers, downtown Plano (Building winners will not be recognized at this awards ceremony. The fire department will notify the city winners and their teachers and invite them to the awards ceremony.

Nurses Corner
With the start of a new school year, it is best to remind all parents and student of the general guidelines for keeping the school healthy and when to keep your students home.
When do I keep my child at home?
Many parents are unsure when to keep a child at home with an illness. Please keep your child home if they have any of the following symptoms:
- A temperature of 100.0 degrees or more in the previous 24 hours (please keep your child home until they have been fever-free for 24 hours to avoid spread of infection).
- Diarrhea or vomiting in the previous 24 hours (please keep your child home until symptom-free for 24 hours).
- If your child wakes up with one or both eyes that are red or pink, oozing green or yellow fluid or has matter stuck to the eyelids, please keep your child home and call your Doctor. Your child may have pink eye (conjunctivitis) which is EXTREMELY contagious until they have had 24 hours of prescription eye drops.
- If your child has a moist cough that is difficult to control with over-the counter medications, or your child is coughing up green or yellow sputum, please keep your child home and check with your Doctor.
