A Message from Mr. Shepler
Hopefully, we are done with inclement weather days for this school year and we will get to see our Thursday/Friday cohort students this week. Please be on the lookout for a handout titled "COVID-19 Awareness Parent/Guardian Attendance Acknowledgement Statement". Your child will be bringing this home to be signed and returned. 6th grade students have already received this handout. 7th and 8th grade students will be getting them this week.
Several weeks ago, I communicated a change in how we handle Wednesday asynchronous work. Wednesday asynchronous work will continue to not be graded. Asynchronous work provided on inclement weather days can be graded and teachers have been communicating this to students. Additionally, emojis are being used within Google Classroom as a visual signal of a graded assignment that can be found in PowerSchool.

News from the LMS School Based Health Center (SBHC)- Repost
Happy National School-Based Health Care Awareness Month!
Study after study has shown that school based health centers help reduce lateness and missed time at school and work, increase grades, and better connect students, teachers, and parents. This is so important… because in order to do well in school, students must be present, healthy, and ready to learn! And what better way is there to help children stay healthy, than to provide some of that care at school, where students spend the majority of their time!
Did you know that Caroline County is the only public school system in the entire state to offer school based health center services in each of their schools! Your child has access to the Choptank Community Health School Based Health Center at LMS! The LMS SBHC is open every Monday and Wednesday from 7:30am-3:30 pm and Friday from 7:30 am-11:30 am. Services include treatment of acute minor illnesses such as strep throat, ear infections, and rash, evaluation and management of sports and related injuries, asthma care and various other health and dental education.
Appointments can be made through the school nurse’s office by sending a note to school with your child, or by calling 410-479-3277. The School Based Health Center can be reached during office hours via telephone at 410-479-3075.
