Back to School, Back to Reality
Some Folks Thought Today Was Saturday!
Busy, Busy, Busy to Start the Week
Today we launched our Force, Motion and Energy unit and began exploring and creating polygons. This week, your children have their word study due on Friday and will be taking a fiction reading assessment on Friday as well. We are nearly finished with researching our countries and will begin our writing on Wednesday of this week.
In your child's Monday folder today is a multitude of assignments, including their plants test and all of their Time for Kids homework from before the break. If an assignment was missing, it is written on the Time for Kids work. Our plants assessment was open note, so I was very pleased with the majority of the assessments. If your child did not earn a 100%, they will receive a copy of the test with the questions they did not answer correctly marked for review tomorrow in class.
Class Performance on Wednesday, December 13th
Our class will be performing at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Wednesday, December 13th at Brownsville. They have been working extremely hard on their pieces and I have been quite impressed with their musicianship. If you know your child cannot make the evening performance, please let me know in advance. Additionally, if you cannot make the evening performance but would like to come see your child in the afternoon, please feel free to join us during the day.
ST Math for Homework
Today I assigned for math homework a program called ST Math. This is a new math resource that has been made available countywide for students. We have been working on it in class for approximately six week. I have thus far limited the students' access to classroom only. I wanted to give them an opportunity to work on it at home as several have asked to do so. I stressed to the students that ST Math is to be done only after all other homework is completed. There is no single assignment, so your child could be on for hours honing their math skills. Please don't let them do that! I have instructed them to show you what ST Math looks like so you can see what we are using to supplement our instruction.
