This Week at Winsor
Virtual Learning Edition
Virtual Learning
Please continue to ask questions and recognize that flexibility remains key; we ask that people give their best and that our staff will have latitude regarding the timelines of assignment submission. If you have any tech based questions, please directly contact our IT department at:
Our Virtual Learning FAQs are here:

YouTube
We recently made the decision to enable YouTube for K-5 students. Typically, YouTube would be automatically blocked. There, along with some outstanding educational content, is some material not suitable for elementary students. If you allow your child or children to use YouTube at home, strongly consider direct supervision. The litmus question we use is as following: If you don't want grandma or grandpa to see what you are watching, you probably shouldn't be there.
Digital Expectations
While there is great flexibility regarding assignment due dates, I want to reiterate expectations for students. Please see the linked slideshow. Students should be reminded that Virtual School is just like real school. Students should arrive on time, pay attention throughout the lesson, and give their best effort. The more we can spread this message together, the stronger our learning community will become.

Attendance
Thank you to everyone for using the daily attendance form. I know the last thing families want to do is to take on another task. The reason for this request is twofold: First, it maintains an environment of high expectations. Second, it provides the required data to the state. Rhode Island, and Smithfield specifically, have earned plaudits due to keeping attendance rates high. Your role in this does not go unnoticed and is appreciated.
Calendar
Friday, April 3rd and Friday, April 17th are designated professional development days for teachers and there is no school for students. Students can, but are not required to, catch up on any work and/or read. No new assignments will be created on these days. April 9th and 10th are considered vacation days. There is no school for students or teachers.
Thank you for working with us. Now, more than ever, we miss our students are are hopeful we can be together in person soon. Be well.
