All Are Welcome

This week, Mr. Azcoitia, Mrs. Maldonado and Mrs. Culberson read the books All are Welcome by Alexandra Penfold & Suzanne Kaufman and Ways to Welcome by Linda Ashman & Joey Chou in all of the classes. Dr. Talley even stopped by and read to a few classes! We emphasized to the students that we are an inclusive community, ALL are welcome at Cowlishaw!

Safety during Arrival and Dismissal

Please partner with us to maintain safe arrival and dismissal procedures. A few rules to highlight:

*Adults and students need to stay on the sidewalk when arriving and dismissing. We cannot have students and parents walking through the bus drive/in between busses or walking through the carline. This is not safe for anyone.

*Do not park where the orange cones are placed on the street.

We appreciate your patience with the bus routes as they have been running late the first couple of days.

College Colors Day!

Cowlishaw will once again be participating in College Colors Day on Friday, September 3rd.

College Colors Day is an annual celebration dedicated to promoting the traditions and spirit that make the college experience great by encouraging people across America to wear apparel of their favorite college or university throughout the day.

Additionally, College Colors Day, which coincides with "back to school" and the kick-off of intercollegiate athletics, strives to advocate higher education through increased public awareness, and celebrates the achievements of colleges and universities, acknowledging their fundamental importance.

Since its inception in 2005, College Colors Day has grown rapidly across the country. Thousands of organizations and millions of individuals participate annually by donning their team colors and sharing in the college spirit with friends and colleagues.

Wear your favorite college colors on Friday, September 3rd.

Fall Benchmarking

Indian Prairie School District 204 will administer benchmark assessments in the fall, winter, and spring to students in kindergarten through eighth grade. For grade levels second through fifth grade, students will need working headphones to complete the assessments. These brief Illinois Learning Standards aligned assessments evaluate student academic performance and growth in the areas of reading and mathematics. Specifically, depending on grade level, literacy measures will assess vocabulary, phonological awareness, word recognition, reading comprehension and reading fluency. Additionally, depending on grade level, numeracy measures will assess number sense, operations, algebraic thinking, measurement/data, geometry, fractions and ratios/proportions. The assessment results are used by teachers and administrators to assist with instructional planning and differentiation at the grade, classroom and student level.

Should you have any questions regarding benchmark assessments please contact Danielle Culberson, Interventionist. danielle_culberson@ipsd.org

IPSD 204 District COVID Dashboard

Positive cases of COVID-19 each school in Indian Prairie 204 can be found on the District's COVID Dashboard. The dashboard includes all positive cases of COVID-19 reported to District 204 for individuals who were on campus. The information is updated each Monday by 4 pm. If your child is in close contact with someone who tested positive, a member of the COVID-19 Response Team will notify you directly regarding the need to quarantine as a precaution. Additional information found on this page includes the current transmission level and a link to the corresponding mitigation strategies.
