Appreciation
The are the words that President Obama used to describe, "the most influential person in my educational journey, my 5th Grade Teacher".
Teachers enter the profession for many reasons. But all educators share a love of children and a passion for learning. It can sometimes be a difficult job. The recognition from the greater community helps all of us keep focused on the positive. As teacher appreciation week winds down around the District, we would like to thank the PTA and all members of the Drake community who helped make Teacher Appreciation Week so wonderful.
Orchestra Camp
Strongsville's Summer Orchestra Camp will be offered to Orchestra students who have just completed grades 5 and 6. 5th grade will meet 10:30-12:00, and 5th grade 12:00-1:30. Camp runs from July 25 - August 10th (four days each week), with a final performance on August 10th at the Cuyahoga County Fair. This is a great opportunity for Orchestra students to make new friends before starting at the new Middle School!
Click here for the Orchestra Camp registration form and additional information. Forms and money are due by May 18th. Orchestra Camp will be taught by Mrs. Tanya Rogers, Orchestra director at Center Middle School, Surrarrer, Drake, Muraski, and Kinsner All-City Orchestra. If you have any additional questions, please e-mail her at trogers@scsmustangs.org
SAEBRS
Earlier this year the Strongsville City Schools implemented our PBIS model, known as Strongsville P.R.I.D.E. In addition, to meet the social-emotional needs of our students the district piloted a universal screening assessment in grades 3, 5, and 6, known as the Social, Academic and Emotional Behavior Risk Screener (SAEBRS). The screeners have been completed, the data has been compiled, and the results have been sent to the middle school and elementary counselors in preparation for next school year’s guidance lessons and small groups. As with the academic universal screenings, AIMSweb, you will be notified next year if your child is selected for participation in an intervention program. If your child is not identified as in need of intervention, he/she will continue to receive class wide guidance lessons. Thank you for your willingness to assist the Strongsville City Schools in building a system of student social and emotional support. Please contact your child’s counselor if you have questions or concerns about your child’s participation.
