Camp David Accords

What were the Camp David Accords?

In 1978, president Jimmy Carter asked Anwar el-Sadat and Menachem Begin to a retreat in Maryland. These two people were the Egyptian President and the Prime Minister of Israel. Carter's goal was for these two countries to stop war with each other and come to a peace agreement. After 13 days they had both successfully agreed to a peace agreement.

How did Carter handle this situation?

Many say that the Camp David Accords were one of Carters greatest achievements. I would agree, he handled it well, and stopped a war that had been going on for 30 years. He achieved peace between the two countries. This caused many people in the United States to appreciate Carter as a president and recognize the good he was doing in foreign affairs for the United States. It felt good for people to see this after the Vietnam War.
