Wolfpack Pride
August 23rd, 2021
Principal's Update
Welcome to the Wolfpack!
What an exciting time to be at North Central High School! We are excited to welcome students back and are committed to reaching every student, every day. Student resilience over the last sixteen months inspires all of us. They have navigated online learning, health attestations, and school hallways divided for directional use. They have experienced distancing from family and friends. Thus, as students return to school, our focus will be relationships – belonging to our community.
North Central HS has a new mascot - Wolfpack. School spirit is grounded in a sense of shared community and identity. Our sense of community is strong – We are family, always. The strength of the Wolfpack is characterized by patience, curiosity, teamwork, and an unwillingness to quit.
We look forward to meeting you on August 31st for Open House. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Every student, every day

New Student Orientation Makeup, 4:30 PM
This is a review orientation for students who missed freshman or 7th grade orientation, for any students who are new to NCHS, and anyone else who would like a brief overview of the school and how to get involved. Students who previously attended one of the other orientations have already received the same information.
Student and Family Opening Fair, 5:00 PM
Community organizations, NCHS sports teams, and student clubs and activities will set up booths in the commons to welcome students and families and help them connect at school. Come get information on the many supports, activities, and events available for our students. The fair will include a raffle drawing for attendees!
Principal's Welcome, 5:30 PM
Our new principal, Tami McCracken, will welcome families to the school, introduce key staff members, and share her vision for the coming year.
Classroom Rotations, 5:45 PM
Parents and students will visit each of their classes to meet their teachers and classmates. We will start in Advisory, then move through 1st through 6th period in order. At the end, there will be time to visit 0 period, 7th period, or other teachers you missed earlier in the evening.
What will school look like in the fall?
Lunch will be in the commons and patio area, with students rotating through two lunch shifts. Students may take their masks off while eating. Meals will continue to be provided free to all students at our school, regardless of Free & Reduced Lunch status.
We will continue to use Teams for communication between teachers, students, and parents. Students will have a school laptop, which they can pick up during the first week of school to use all year. Most assignments will be digital to reduce the possible spread of illness from sharing paper copies.
Plans are still being developed in more detail for lunches, assemblies, and other events, but we are committed to finding ways to come together and celebrate as a community, while also following district and state guidelines.
How do I view my class schedule?
School Counseling Staff
The counselors are still on summer break, but will return to the office on August 23rd. They will not be able to process any class change requests until after that date, and changes will have to be limited due to the full capacity of our class schedule. Thanks for understanding and we look forward to talking to you soon!

Attendance Reminders
Student attendance at school is highly related to their success. It's very important to us that all students attend school as much as possible to maximize their learning. If your child has to miss school for any reason, please call the 24-hour Attendance Hotline at 509-354-6309. Use this hotline to report absences, late arrivals and early dismissals. Please make sure to let us know if an absence is excused so that it is not reported as an unexcused truancy.
