- Reflect the lived experiences of students, families and friends
- Help students understand inequities based on race
- Affirm that the lives of people of color matter
- Promote the belief that we all have a responsibility to work for equity as a core ideal

NEWS for incoming kindergarten families
Dual Language Program Coming!!
Dear CPE Families of Incoming Kindergartners:
We are pleased to announce that our school has been selected to offer a premium dual language program for incoming kindergarten students, beginning next school year (2021-22)! This will be an extraordinary K-12 educational opportunity for all future CPE students to become bilingual and biliterate in both English and Spanish, with high levels of academic achievement through instruction in both languages.
This research-proven model will be a 90/10, Two-Way, Dual Language program with Spanish as the target language. The two-way part refers to a balanced class of 50 percent Spanish-speaking students, and 50 percent English speaking students. The 90/10 means that 90 percent of the instruction in Kindergarten will be in Spanish, and 10 percent of instruction will be in English. This percentage will change each year until instruction is 50 percent in Spanish, 50 percent in English by 4th or 5th grade.
To learn more about this unique opportunity for your incoming Kindergarten student, please mark your calendars for February 25 from 5:00 pm-6:30 pm for a Zoom discussion (click here for the meeting) with the Director of Equity for the Edmonds School District and the CPE principal.

Attendance and Truancy during COVID-Attendance Matters
Schools are taking attendance during remote learning and marking absences as excused or unexcused. Contact the school if your child participated in remote learning, even if it wasn’t a live class, and you don’t think the school knows. If your child was not able to participate because of COVID-related problems, contact the school to excuse their absences. It is important that you communicate with your teacher and your school to get the support you need.
