Game On!
Updates
Good morning. I hope everyone had a wonderful and relaxing weekend.
We have a busy and exciting week ahead. Please work with your teammates to determine who will attend our nightly events this week. Please make sure this is a task shared by everyone on your team and this is done on a rotating basis so it does not fall on the shoulders of a few on your team. One person from each team should plan on staying until the end of the Science Fair to assist with your grade levels’ remaining projects.
Given that we have a long weekend coming up, please secure all classrooms and take any valuables home with you on Friday.
Please submit your leave form if you plan to be out on Tuesday. It is a non protected workday designated for working on report cards.
The Hospitality Committee should make sure everything from our Early Release Day luncheon is cleaned up and put away before you leave on Friday.
Thank you for reinforcing the social etiquette piece of our model. I am concerned the number of times I have to remind students to say please and thank you and yes ma’am no sir. It is honestly very apparent which classrooms make this a priority based on the children’s behavior.
We are so excited about how well the children appear to be doing on their assessments.
Thank you for all your hard work. Being well planned, designing rigorous and relevant instruction and giving students a voice contributes to high student engagement and high academic success.
If you are concerned about a student, please notify the parents NOW and be specific about what the needs are and the support needed. We will discuss this more this afternoon.
Please do not loan any of our school equipment or supplies to other WCPSS employees without administrative approval. We are happy to share, but we are responsible for all things purchased with monies earmarked for Combs. If this request arises, please just see an administrator.
Please take a few minutes to sync your clocks to help facilitate arriving to and leaving from specials on time.
Please make an attempt to have all grades input by the end of the day Tuesday. This will help us avoid printing and technical issues that we've run into in previous quarters.
Congratulations to Isabella Everett, our Spotlight on Student! We will celebrate with Isabella as she is honored at the Wake County School Board Meeting on January 26 at 5:30.
From Ms. Hook:
“This February, heart month, we will be learning about how to take care of our hearts, spreading the message to friends and family, and helping others when we can! The American Heart Association will be coming to our campus on this Friday, January 15 to share Heart Healthy messages to prepare for our jump rope for heart month in PE.
The American Heart Association's goal is to improve the cardiovascular health of Americans. They will challenge our kids to start living a healthy lifestyle now to prevent problems later; and give them an opportunity to participate in a service learning project that funds the fight against heart diseases and stroke - #1 and #5 cause of death in our country. If your child participates in fundraising, they will be invited to a special heart party in April.
Any student who registers at http://heart.org/jump and raises at least $150.00 online BEFORE the kick off presentation will be honored at the kick off and receive Toby! All donations must be received by 6pm the day before the kick off.
Please join us in teaching our students the importance of being heart healthy for life!
The links below will be great to show students and parents how to register online!”
