Mrs. Jester's Math

This week in sixth grade Pre-AP math, we will be solving multi-step equations with variables on both sides. We will also be determining how many solutions a linear equation can have.

This week in sixth grade math, we will be classifying angles as either vertical or adjacent. We will also be finding complementary and supplementary angles and finding the measure of the missing angle in a triangle. Finally, we will be graphing translations on a coordinate plane.

Mrs. Campbell and Mrs. Turnbow's Math

Mrs. Turnbow's and Mrs. Campbell's 6th grade math classes will be learning about how to find the area of a parallelograms, triangles and composite figures this week.

Mrs. Reynolds' Spanish

Hello! I wanted to give you a quick update on Ms. Reynolds. She is doing well after her back surgery and is home recovering. The students have been receiving instruction from Mrs. Noah, one of our regular substitute teachers, who has been gracious to be with us throughout the past few weeks. We are excited to let you know that a new substitute teacher, Mr. Allen, who speaks Spanish will begin as a long-term sub on Monday. Thank you for your patience as we have looked for literally weeks to find someone who could fill this position.

Ms. Jasper's Science

This week we will be working on finishing Chapter 6 Lessons 1 and 2. We will be discussing organs and organ systems. Tuesday and Wednesday the students will be working with a partner to make presentations about how different body systems work together.

Just some reminders for this week:

The students should be bringing their Ch. 6 Lesson 1 notes home and reading over them this week in preparation for our quiz.

Chapter 6 Lesson 1 Quiz will be Thursday, March 3!!!!

Ms. Clark's Science

Ms. Clark's science classes will be practicing using electric microscopes this week, learning about how we start with the lowest power objective first to find the cell and using the coarse adjustment knob to raise or lower the stage to bring the cell into view. Finally, students will use the fine adjustment knob to focus clearly on the cell. Pond water samples brought with your child will be gladly accepted on Wednesday!

Mr. Janzen and Mrs. Anderson's Social Studies

Mr. Janzen and Mrs. Anderson's social studies classes will be finishing up NAFTA projects this week and will finish Mexico unit on Friday. Next week.....we are headed to Central America!!

Mrs. Frank and Ms. Walter's English

Mrs. Frank's English classes will be reading a new's article and watching a video about September 11. We will take a quiz on Wednesday. We will continue reading Tuck Everlasting chapters 15-16. We will be taking a sentence type quiz on Friday.

Ms. Walter's classes will do all the above except sentence type quiz.

Mrs. Edwards' Literacy

In Literacy, we will be working on different types of conflict and the 5 parts of a plot.
