The major functions that a manager completes can be categorized into four different functions known as planning, organizing, leading, and controlling. In planning the manager will create a detailed action plan aimed at some organizational goal. In organizing you need to determine how you will distribute resources and organize your employees according to the plan. In leading you need to spend time connecting with your employees on an interpersonal level. Finally, in controlling once your plan has been carried out the manager evaluates the results against the goals.
