Language Arts
Vocabulary: We learned new vocabulary to help us while reading our novel. They included considered, refused, solution, flung, threatened, examines, amuse, beckoned, avoided, beam, concoction, ordinary wailed and gloomy.
Reading: We finished reading Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing. We loved this novel and found it very entertaining. We finished with our Keynote Journals. These journals held vocabulary, summaries, video explanations, Clips projects and more! Complete Keynote Journals will be uploaded to Seesaw by the end of next week. This week students created interviews, made a word cloud, finished their Clips commercials and completed a book review. I highly suggest finding the next books in the series! :)
Writing Workshop: This week, to go along with Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing we researched a city in the US. We then created a factual Keynote showing our knowledge.
Comprehension: Main Idea and Details, Summarizing
Figurative Language: Similes and Metaphors
Math
We finished with our topic on multiplying with one digit numbers. We reviewed partial products, area models and the standard form of multiplication to learn how to multiply double and triple digit numbers. Students also used I-ready to complete differentiated lessons. Please continue to have your child work on their basic multiplication facts. We also had our topic 3 test! We all did an amazing job! Next week, we will be started 2-digit by 2 digit multiplication using the same strategies and will also take our I-ready math diagnostic.
